A former international senior banker with a wide range of experience in Banking Finance and Mortgages gained in South Africa, London and Dublin, Patrick Shallow founded Finalysis in 1990. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of the Metropolitan Building Society and before that was Deputy MD of the retail lender, Chartered Trust, the Finance arm of Standard Chartered Bank.
Patrick identified a gap in the market for independent banking and treasury advice to corporates and considerable cost savings could be achieved based on his (and later his enlarged team) international experience and use of analytics software. Finalysis has grown considerably and has assisted many leading national and international corporates with their banking and treasury operations while at the same time maintaining those valuable relationships.
As economist with Standard Bank of South Africa in the early seventies, he specialized in the analysis of branch performance and profitability – the focus then being on optimizing the bank’s branch network. He gained many valuable insights into bank pricing, money transmission and currency management.
Based on the success of the Irish Finalysis operation, Patrick established Finalysis UKwww.finalysisuk.co.uk to address the international market from there, specializing in the Public and University sectors. By 2016 Finalysis reports for multinationals, universities and corporates numbered almost 400. In 2002, based on his PhD research, Patrick also founded the successful credit risk analytics company, Credit Expo ltd. (www.creditexopo.ie) for measuring credit risk in consumer finance as well as for banks and credit unions.
Patrick holds a B.Comm. Degree (Law and Economics) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg; a M.Sc. from TCD, Dublin and a PhD in Banking from the Smurfit Business School, Dublin. Patrick has presented regularly on Banking at University College, Dublin. He is a contributor to Finance Magazine and Business & Finance. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers.
